I only got a used 2007 prius hither, and was wondering if a backup camera can hands be hooked upward to the vehicle? If so, whatever recommendations for a specific photographic camera? Thank you.

I think I have the base model merely I'm not entirely sure, what would exist an piece of cake giveaway?

The base model doesn't have a fill-in camera.

Besides in that location's no SKS functions, where yous have to insert your keyfob into a central slot to offset your car. Models that are not base of operations models have SKS functions and will not demand to put the keyfob into a fundamental slot to start the automobile.

Ah yeah I take the key slot on mine, thanks for your assist

SKS models also have the key slot; the deviation is you don't demand to have the key in the slot to start the car. With SKS, there is an on/off toggle switch near the the base of the steering cavalcade.

Hey all, I recently purchased a used 2007 Prius (my showtime!!). It does take the SKS function and the Type 1 MFD. I didn't call up that I had a backup photographic camera, simply I noticed a lens well-nigh my hatchback handle that appears to be a camera. When I go into reverse the car just beeps, the brandish doesn't change at all. Is information technology possible that I have a camera that is only non hooked upwardly??

2007 Pkg#iii might come with the reverse camera I'g not pretty sure. The MFD on your Prius might not detect the REV signal to turn the video. You tin go into diagnostics mode on the MFD to run across the REV status when yous turn the joy stick into reverse. If the status of REV keeps showing "OFF", the MFD may not turn to display the video from the photographic camera.

If information technology has sks functions, it should have a backup photographic camera

Non sure what you mean by "Type one MFD"? If yous look at Pg. 186 of the 2008 Owner'southward Manual (section v3-ane.Using the touch screen) at that place is a pic of the iii dissimilar MFDs in use in a Gen 2 Prius. (If you lot don't have the manual, this mail service: Wires connectedness of back-up camera to MFD !!! has pictures of the two not-navigation MFDs) The Touring model in 2008 should have a backup camera, but a previous owner may accept replaced the MFD with a non-camera Type B (BUT, that is unlikely, every bit they would have had to re-wire the plug.)
If the larger plug in the back of the MFD is loose, that certainly would explain it. If you accept JBL audio, the MFD should also support Bluetooth for a phone. If that plug is loose, it is probable that the Bluetooth audio would besides not work.
The camera wires go from the MFD, nether the center panel to an in-line plug under the driver's seat. From there the wire goes to an in-line plug in the roof at the center of the top of the back hatch. From there it is in the back hatch wiring harness and there is an in-line plug inside the back hatch just behind the photographic camera. (No plug at the camera.) Any one of those could be unplugged or dirty or corroded, merely the only plug that contains the photographic camera wires and nothing else is the i inside the back hatch.
The photographic camera could exist "burned out"--if at that place is no video indicate, the MFD volition not switch to a bare screen when in reverse, it will ignore the contrary signal.

Here is a video showing how to become to the MFD:

But be careful with brittle air vents!!

Here is a video to get the inside console off of the rear hatch:

This post has instructions on how to put the MFD in maintenance way, from there yous can check if the contrary signal is working (and there may be a camera test.) Notwithstanding some other rear photographic camera question - Loom?

Opps I meant Type A not Type 1! I looked upwards my vin on the Toyota owners website and I have a Touring #3 so co-ordinate to that I do have the photographic camera (and yep it looks like the pic posted). The Bluetooth works fine! I will cheque out the maintenance style, just I'chiliad guessing that I will have to try to gear up the wiring in the hatch. Thanks for all your assist! I'll permit yous know how this starting time timer does!

    Update:

Skilful news!! I checked the MFD maintenance mode and the camera option was greyed out, but the reverse point was detected. I was procrastinating checking the wiring considering I've been busy with schoolhouse and thought it would exist time consuming (and confusing), only it didn't even have me five minutes!!! I just popped off the rear hatch console and saw the camera wasn't plugged into the harness...plugged it in and information technology worked!!!!

Although it makes me question the dealer now, how did they non know there was a camera or were they to lazy to fix ito_O??

Anyway, thanks for all your help:)
